Best Masks To Reduce Redness & Soothe Irritated Skin

Best masks to reduce redness
Best Masks To Reduce Redness & Soothe Irritated Skin

I've always suffered from redness, and to top it all off, I also have very sensitive skin. Oftentimes, my skin tends to flares up unexpectedly it can be from the food I had, sudden change of weather or a new product I've tried. I used to try to solve the issue by using various products at once, but it only made things worse. After a lot of trial and error, I figured out what works for me especially when my skin is breaking out or inflamed. I use these masks all throughout the year, and it continuously helped my skin during both Winter and Summer. Whenever my skin is irritated I like to give my skin a break and go for my simple fail-proof skincare routine. I start with a gentle cleanser, then a soothing mask, followed by a serum, hydrating moisturizer, and a nourishing oil. In the morning I skip cleansing I just wash my face with cold water then I like to use an essence/mist, serum, and moisturizer with SPF. This routine has worked for me every time, and if I keep up with this routine my skin goes back to normal within a week or so.

I also want to share a homemade mask I used to use back when I was in High School, and to this day I still find it very helpful. Keep reading to learn more about the best soothing masks to reduce redness and soothe irritated skin.

Ren Evercalm Ultra Comfort Rescue Mask Review

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask Review
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask $24 for 2oz- This mask is great for all skin types. It's a deeply hydrating mask that helps nurture, calm, and rejuvenate distressed-looking, dry skin. This mask targets redness, dryness, dullness, and uneven skin texture. This face mask’s soothing formula blends a duo of protective oats—colloidal oatmeal and Avena sativa oat bran—with botanical antioxidants and skin-nourishing ingredients to help repair the look of skin. The fast-acting mask relieves dry, distressed skin in only 10 minutes.

This mask comes in a small tube at first you might think it's not a lot of product, but a little goes a long way when it comes to this mask. I discovered this mask years ago, and since then I've repurchased this product many times. This is formulated with colloidal oatmeal, shea butter, Bisabolol all of which helps hydrate and soothe your skin immediately. It has a creamy texture with tiny specks of oats, but it's still very easy to apply and rinse off. The tiny particles aren't strong enough to exfoliate the skin since it's very soft in texture. It also has a light calming oatmeal scent with a hint of vanilla which lingers on for a few mins before disappearing completely. After cleansing, I like to apply a thick layer of this mask, and I leave it on for 15 min then rinse off. I love using this mask in the morning cause it helps with dry patches. It's a great way to prep your skin for makeup application. It doesn't leave any residue behind, and it really helps with blotchy, dull, and dehydrated skin. It also does an amazing job soothing itchiness and rashes.

Colloidal oatmeals are rich in beta-glucans, proteins, vitamin E, fatty acids, which helps reduce skin inflammation and stimulate collagen production. It also has anti-aging and reparative properties. The fats contained in oatmeal also add to its emollient activity, which can improve the itch of dry skin. This has been my go-to mask for many many years especially during the period when my skin flares up. This is definitely one of my must-have skincare product.

Key Ingredients:
  • Colloidal Oatmeal: Helps calm and soothe dry or distressed skin.
  • Bisabolol: Helps soothe and calm skin.
  • Shea Butter: An emollient rich in vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids; helps moisturize and protect the skin barrier.
  • Sea Buckthorn: A botanical extract rich in antioxidants, helps calm and condition skin.
Full Ingredients:
Water, Colloidal Oatmeal, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Caprylic/Capric/Myristic/Stearic Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Octyldodecanol, Glycerin, Lactobacillus Ferment, Polysorbate 20, Cetearyl Alcohol, Decyl Glucoside, Theobroma Cacao Seed Butter, Polysorbate 60, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil, Xanthan Gum, Tetrasodium Edta, Dimethicone, Bisabolol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Chrysanthemum Parthenium Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract, Vanilla Planifolia Fruit Extract, Vanillin, Avena Sativa Kernel Extract, Zingiber, Officinale Root Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate.

Skinfood Bitter Green Clay Soothing Mask Review
Skinfood Bitter Green Clay Soothing Mask

Skinfood Bitter Green Clay Soothing Mask $21 for 5.11 oz- A soothing and hydrating clay mask that absorbs oil and calms skin irritation, promoting pure, healthy skin. It's a hypoallergenic anti-dust and detoxifying cleansing line featuring Bitter Green-5 complex that helps discharge toxins. The 5 complex is made up of wheatgrass, kale, celery, cabbage and broccoli extracts. Last year, I was sent a few products from Skinfood to try, and the word "soothing" caught my eyes promptly. After cleansing, apply a thick layer onto the face. Leave on for 10-15 minutes or until skin feels tight. Rinse off with warm water in gentle massaging motions.

This mask comes in a plastic jar,  for the price, you get a great amount of product. The consistency is rich and creamy with small luffa bits which are not too harsh on the skin. I stopped using gritty exfoliators a while back so, I was a bit hesitant about this mask, but after using it once I was sold! I've used a lot of clay masks, but this is slightly different from the rest. As it dries, it doesn't tighten or feel uncomfortable like other clay masks. My skin is normal at the moment, and since this mask gently exfoliates the skin I like to use this once a week. It has a minty scent it's a bit strong for my liking, but it dissipates quickly. I love using this mask when I'm breaking out, and my skin is dull, irritated. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, refreshed, it also helps reduce redness and diminish pimples.

Kaolin clay is ideal for oily skin, it absorbs excess oils, and it can help balance the oil production. It gently exfoliates and detoxifies the skin without causing any redness. I would highly recommend this mask to those with normal to oily skin types.

Full Ingredients:
Water, Kaolin, Glycerin, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Sprout Extract, Polyglyceryl-10 Dipalmitate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit Powder, Hydrated Silica, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Apium Graveolens (Celery) Extract, Brassica Oleracea Acephala Leaf Extract, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Potassium Hydroxide, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Honey Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Origanum Majorana Leaf Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Alchemilla Vulgaris Extract, Gnaphalium Leontopodium Flower Extract, Malva Sylvestris (Mallow) Flower Extract, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Ceramide Np, Phytosphingosine, Ceramide Ap, Xanthan Gum, Cholesterol, Carbomer, Ceramide Eop, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex.

As I have mentioned, I also like to use a quick homemade mask that my mom had taught me when I was a teen. For this mask you'll need honey I like to use raw organic honey my favorite brand is Wedderspoon 100% Raw Premium Manuka Honey which you can find at Wholefoods. I like to mix one tablespoon of honey, and yogurt. Leave it on for 10-15 min then rinse off. This mask is very nourishing it instantly soothes and gives my skin a healthy radiant glow.

Honey has anti-inflammatory properties, it helps reduce redness, clear out acne, soothes inflamed skin while leaving you with hydrated, silky, soft skin. Yogurt has lactic acid which helps remove dead skin, tightening pores, prevents breakouts, fine lines, and wrinkles. It's highly moisturizing, and it gives you a radiant glow, it's also great for healing sunburn. This is a very quick, but effective homemade mask. Please be sure to do a patch test before applying this mask to the rest of the skin.

These are my tried and tested masks that help reduce redness and inflammation. If you're someone who suffers from red, itchy, dull, dry and sensitive skin I would highly recommend these masks.

Currently On My Wishlist

Hello, hope you guys are having a great week so far. With spring and summer right around the corner, so many new products are launching and I wanted to share what's on my radar. I've already purchased a few products from my wishlist, and I've narrowed it down to a few that are still on my radar. I recently picked up the new La Mer Soliel De La Mer Bronzer and Coral Glow Lip & Cheek Glow. I'm currently testing out both of the products, and a review will be up on the blog within the next week or so.

  1. Chantecaille La Sirena Bronzer $78 this bronzer is part of their Summer 2018 collection. Truth be told I'm mostly swooning over the packaging, but Chantecaille cheek products never cease to amaze me. So, I'm very excited to get my hands on this bronzer.
  2. La Prairie Skin Caviar Essence-in-Foundation SPF 25 $195 one of my favorite foundations is by La Prairie so, I'm very curious to try this new foundation. This will also be my very first cushion foundation, which makes this product even more special.
  3. YSL Volupte Liquid Color Balm $32 this is not new to me cause I've already purchased one of the shade. I just love the formula of this liquid balm so, I want to try a few more shades. I have swatches of the shade 12 Chase Me Nude here
  4. La Prairie Essence Of Skin Caviar Eye Complex $170 I'm currently on the hunt for a new eye cream/essence. My friends rave about this essence, and since I'm a huge fan of the brand, it quickly made its way to my wishlist.
  5. Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder $46 I'm hearing so many great things about this powder, and since I stopped using compact powders this will be a great addition to my short, one-man army Laura Mercier Translucent Powder collection.
  6. Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask $48 this new mask has everyone talking, and Sephora is constantly selling out. So, I'm very curious to find out what's so special about this new Jet Lag mask!
  7. Chantecaille Luminescent Eye Shade- a golden peach $48 this is also part of their Summer 2018 collection. The beautiful shimmering golden peachy shade immediately caught my attention, and there is also a very pretty seafoam shade.
  8. Chantecaille Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask $88 I recently attended a Chantecaille event where Sylvie spoke about how they collect the ingredients for their skincare products.  I loved hearing the backstory, and since, I've never tried their skincare products I thought this gentle healing mask would be a great place to start.
This concludes my wishlist! Please, feel free to leave a comment below I would love to know what's on your wishlist.

Christian Louboutin Limited Edition Loubiflash Nail Polish in Dragon Flash

Christian Louboutin Limited Edition Loubiflash Nail Polish in Dragon Flash
Christian Louboutin Limited Edition Loubiflash Nail Polish in Dragon Flash

Product Description:
This May, designer Christian Louboutin launches his first-ever neon-like Nail Colour shades, introducing the limited edition Loubiflash Nail Collection. These new shades lend inspiration from the 2012 Crazy Horse cabaret show “Voodoo” that Christian choreographed where invisible hands marked by fluorescent paint leave handprints on the dancers' bodies. Like in this magical act, Loubiflash provides a flash of colour to hands, enabling the wearer to exalt herself with pops of bold colour.

For Christian, neon has long been one of his favorite ways to embellish his fashion collections. These bright shades capture the exuberance of the designer's personality and his collection. As an accent they are cheerful yet elegant—they instantly animate one's attitude and look. They add the perfect hint of playfulness to any outfit. With the introduction of Loubiflash, Christian invites women to reveal their audacious side.

Loubiflash Nail Colours are the next generation of Christian's beloved Pop shades. The formula features an exclusive blend of pigments that provide optimal and vivid colour for striking neon-like shades of hot pink, electric orange, and peacock green.

Christian Louboutin Limited Edition Loubiflash Nail Polish in Dragon Flash

Christian Louboutin has just launched their new Limited Edition Loubiflash Nail Colors ($30 for 0.2 fl/ 6ml) The three new neon shades are perfect for Spring and Summer. I had the pleasure of attending an event where I got a preview of the upcoming launches. I was also pampered with a manicure at the Tenoverten nail salon where the event was held. We were also asked to choose a nail color to go home with and obviously, I went with the bright peacock green shade called Dragon Flash.

There are three shades:

I was in awe of the new products so it totally slipped my mind to take additional photos of the new nail polishes so, please excuse the grainy photo (this shot was from my Instagram story) I'm not proud of them, but it will have to do for now. These are the three new neon shades it's much smaller than the full-size CL nail polishes, however, the packaging remains same it's just a miniature and affordable version of their regular nail colors. Loubiflash Nail Colour is housed in a silver foil box featuring a neon colour reveal and Christian Louboutin logo matching the shade inside. Each bottle is crowned with the brand's signature calligraphy-style cap in metallic silver, reflecting the brilliant shades in this collection.

Christian Louboutin Loubi Nail Primer & Gloss

The gift bag also included the Loubi Nail Primer & Gloss ($55 for 2x 0.2 fl/6ml) This duo is the same size as the new Loubiflash nail colors. The nail primer creates a protective, smooth, and flawless surface for the nail colors and the gloss seals in your mani while providing chip-free, brilliant shine and UV protection. The customized triangle brush ensures picks up just the right amount of product. I do like the formula of this nail care kit the base coat is great especially if you're going for a pop of color. It helps create an even canvas for your mani and you only need one coat. I also love the gloss as instructed I applied two coats and it dries within 2-3 minutes which is pretty amazing cause I'm a total clutz, and I'm always messing up my mani while drying. The gloss also has a high shine which lasts for a week before it starts to chip and lose the shine. You can also wear this nail kit alone if you're in a rush but still want a polished look while protecting your nails.

This product is gluten-free, and it is free of toluene, formaldehyde, and DBP.

Now for the fun part let's talk about this beauty Dragon Flash! It's a beautiful seafoam green shade with a hint of teal. The formula is quite impressive it has a medium coverage and with two coats you can achieve an opaque finish. I did notice that Dragon Flash lacks a glossy, shiny finish so you'd definitely need to follow with a top coat which is what I normally do anyways so I don't think that's a big issue. However, I must mention I do own two other CL nail colors and both of them has a high gloss finish so, I think the neon formula has something to do with the matte finishing. The brush was very easy to work with, and the shorter version of the intimidating stiletto handle wasn't an issue at all. I wore Dragon Flash for a full week, and it started losing the lustrous shine and very minor chipping around the 5th day. By the 7th day, it chipped quite a bit but most of my other nail polishes last about 5-6 days before chipping so it's on par with other brands in terms of longevity.

Let's take a closer look at the bottle and some swatches.

This photo was taken right after I got my manicure this shade really suits my complexion and I actually received a lot of compliments. As I have mentioned before Dragon Flash has a matte finish but the top coat really did a great job providing a beautiful glossy finish. After I was done with my manicure I literally waited 2 minutes before I started moving around and taking photos of the new lipsticks (sneak peek coming soon). I was surprised that I did not mess up my polish it literally dries within minutes! I have tried many different top coats but so far I'm really impressed with this one.

This photo was taken on the fifth day of wearing Dragon Flash there were minor chipping on the index finger and the shine started fading a bit, but the color still remained vivid.

Final Verdict:

Christian Louboutin Beaute is a work of art, and it's definitely a splurge I tried holding off on the nail colors as long as I could cause it can get addicting. After trying out the other two nail polishes there was no going back. The quality, performance, and packaging is pure luxury. With that being said, the new neon nail colors are fun and playful I also like the price point which is why I'm probably going to purchase Crostameteor It's a really pretty orange shade. Overall, Dragon Flash gets two thumbs up, it performed really well, and the color is a total winner.

In honor of the Nordstrom Beauty event, I wanted to share my picks for the Spring Beauty Edit 2018. I will be honest with you I can't keep up with all the latest trends, but for spring and summer, I think a fresh, dewy base and a bright glossy lips are a match made in heaven. I must warn you I got way too excited and I ended up picking out a lot of products. I think it's good to have options, and since I'm focusing on skin and lips I'm including foundations, blush, bronzers, and a lot of pretty lipsticks.
So, let's begin!

Spring Beauty Edit 2018
Spring Beauty Edit

First up are the base products I always start with prepping my skin with a hydrating serum and a moisturizer with an SPF 30 followed by a primer. The one I'm loving right now is the Makeup forever HD Serum Booster, its lightweight, hydrating, and it smooths out the appearance of fine lines.
Here are my top three foundation picks:
  • Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick $46 - lately, this has been my go-to foundation. It's very creamy, long-wearing, blendable and it has a full coverage finish. I love that I can use this as a concealer, I've also worn this foundation all throughout the year, and I didn't experience any caking or creasing. It covers redness, blemishes like a dream, and a little goes a long way with this foundation. This is one of my tried and tested foundation and I always get compliments when I wear this foundation.
  • Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation $64 this is a new discovery, but it quickly became one of my favorite due to the lightweight, buildable coverage finish. Luminous Silk foundation has an oil-free formula with a silky texture, and a satin finish. It doesn't cling to any dry patches or emphasize the texture on my skin. You can sheer out the coverage by adding a drop of facial oil or moisturizer of your choice, and to build up the coverage use a beauty blender for an opaque finish. The shade range is a bit of an issue, there are not enough shades with a yellow undertone. I picked up the shade #8 which is the closest match for me.
  • Mac Cosmetics Face and Body Foundation $30- this foundation doesn't need a formal introduction its loved by many, and it is one of my favorite foundation of all time. This is a lightweight, long-wearing, light to medium coverage foundation with a natural skin-like finish. I have developed broken capillaries over the past few years (due to the lack of sun protection I bet that will teach me) this foundation does a decent job at covering up all my imperfections. If you have severe acne spots or hyperpigmentation you'll definitely need to spot conceal. Face and Body has a runny texture, so I like to use my fingers to apply this foundation. This foundation doesn't settle into any fine lines, clog my pores or cling to dry patches, it provides a smooth, even finish. I've been using this foundation since I was 18, and I will continue to use it as long as it works for me. This is also a staple in many makeup artists kits cause of the natural finish and it photographs really well.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder review
Spring Beauty Edit

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder $38 has been a staple in my makeup routine for many years. I like to set my concealer with this powder, and I also like to lightly dust this on my t-zone. In order to obtain a luminous glow, I have to be very light hand with the application so, I use as little powder as possible. If you have very oily t-zone, I would recommend the Lancome Dual Finish Multi-Tasking Powder $40 it has a wide shade range to choose from, and it's a medium to full coverage finish powder that does a great job at keeping the oil at bay.

Spring beauty Trends 2018
Spring Beauty Edit

As I have mentioned earlier, I clearly got a bit carried away. Honestly, I can't contain myself when it comes to highlighters and lipsticks. I mean you should take a peek in makeup bag who needs to carry 7+ lipsticks? I do!

I picked out a few of my favorites cheek products in both powder and cream formula. I recently started using cream products I don't know why I waited so long to try them. It really goes hand in hand with the radiant glowy look.

First up are the powder bronzer, highlighters, and blush.

  • Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Bronzer* $50- this bronzer gives me the ultimate sun-kissed glow! It has a soft texture that blends effortlessly, and it doesn't leave my skin looking orange.
  • Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo $82- a highlighting duo that can be applied individually or layered together for a multidimensional glow. I love Tom Ford highlighters cause they're very subtle and wearable. I use this duo mostly for my daytime looks cause it gives a natural glow without the chunky glitters.
  • Nars Dual-Intensity Blush $ 45- Nars Dual-Intensity blush palette (review here) is one of my most used blush palettes. If you didn't get the chance to purchase the palette fear not cause it also comes in duos, and there are a few shades to choose from. These blushes can be used wet or dry depending on the intensity you're going for. I personally prefer using them dry since it's highly pigmented I don't feel the need to use them wet. Dual-Intensity blushes are very long wearing, and it has a satin finish.
  • Laura Mercier Face Illuminator $44- Indiscretion, is a perfect everyday highlighter it has buttery a texture, and it's a beautiful rose gold shade. This highlighter can be used wet or dry and I prefer it dry to avoid the intense metallic highlighter look. However, I do like to use this wet when I use it as a brow bone highlighter.  This is quite subtle but it adds just the right amount of glow.
  • Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish $34 Whisper of Gilt is probably one of Mac's bestselling highlighter, and it has now joined the permanent line. This highlighter is quite the opposite of subtle it's an intense, highly pigmented, champagne gold highlighter. I like to use this mostly during night time looks it has a cool liquid-powder texture, and I think this is a great option for anyone who loves an opaque finish highlighter.
  • Cle De Peau Beaute Luminizing Face Enhancer $95 a beautiful highlighter that's subtle with a hint of shimmer. Don't be afraid of the shimmer cause its an overspray. Once you get rid of that layer of shimmer you're left with a luxuriously soft, silky, and lustrous finish highlighter.

  • Wander Beauty On-the-Glow Bronzer & Illuminator* $45- a cream-to-powder formula that delivers a natural, pure matte, sun-kissed hue to the cheeks and face, while the illuminator imparts a subtle healthy glow and adds dimension to the face and body. Infused with a proprietary blend of HD pigments, vitamins, and hydrating ingredients, the buildable formula glides beautifully onto the skin, flattering all complexions. This is one of the creamiest bronzers I've used thus far. I also love that it comes with a highlighter so it's very travel-friendly. I have a detailed review with swatches here
  • By Terry Glow-Expert* $48- a two-in-one product which you can use to highlight and contour and it also has a brush on the other end. It has a creamy formula with a pearl finish, and it glides on the skin like butter. I have the shade Amber Light, I like to mix both shades to warm up my skin. The formula is incredible and I love how this stick duo looks on the skin it provides the prettiest glossy finish.
  • YSL Touche Eclat Glow Shot Liquid Highlighter* $42 a liquid highlighter that brightens your complexion that gives your skin a radiant, dewy glow. I have the shade 2 Sunrise it's a beautiful pink opalescent shadeThis is a bit sheer so you can mix this with your foundation for a luminescent glow.
  • Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick $42 a highly pigmented, long-wearing, an innovative formula that adjusts to your body temperature to blend effortlessly into the skin. It’s also formulated with hollow microspheres for a weightless feel on the skin. It blends into the skin without any streaks with a high shine and metallic finish.
  • Wander Beauty On-the-Glow Blush & Illuminator* $42- this is just as good as the bronzer duo the formula is very creamy, easy to blend, and the pigmentation is incredible. I also have a detailed review and swatches of this duo here

I love peachy, coral lipsticks as you can tell I feel like its the perfect shade for spring and summer. I don't wear a lot of bold, colorful lipsticks, but when I do it's usually a bright orange or a coral shade.

  • Tom Ford Sheer Lip Color $54- a lustrous sheen of color that complements sun-kissed, summer skin.  I have four Lip Color Sheers, and I really like the texture of these lipsticks it has a comfortable wear that provides a layer of hydration to the lips.
  • Chantecaille Lip Chic* $38- Hyacinth is a pinkish coral shade with a satin finish. I absolutely love the lip chic formula it has a sheer coverage with a very pretty glossy finish. I recently reviewed the Chantecaille spring collection here which includes this lipstick.
  • Nars Velvet Lip Glide $26- Bound is a lovely rosy pink shade. These lip glides are highly pigmented, it goes on like a gloss, but sets like a lipstick. I also have a full review of the Nars Velvet Lip Glides here
  • Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet Liquid Lipsticks* $38- I have two shades 400 and 505 both are very pretty and fun bright colors. The creamy consistency glides on the lips smoothly, it has a non-drying formula, and it lasts for 3-4 hours before it starts to fade. I love the shade 400 it is a bright warm red, and I think it will suit most skin tones.
  • YSL VoluptĂ© Liquid Balm $32- I'm a huge fan of YSL lip products so I had to try their newest launch, Volupte liquid Balm. A medium-coverage, high-shine liquid lip color that deeply moisturizes and protects lips like a balm. I picked up the shade in N12 Chase Me Nude it's a peachy nude. The formula is superb, and although, it's a lip balm it's still nicely saturated.
  • Lancome L'Absolu Rouge Hydrating Shaping Lip Color $32- 172 Impatiente, a stunning orange-red. The formula is infused with moisture-boosting Pro-Bylane, it gives your lips a high color payoff without drying out your lips. I love using this lipstick during spring/summer it really brightens up my complexion, and the formula is quite hydrating which is always a plus.
  • Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High-Intensity Refillable Lipstick $34- by now you can see a pattern of glossy, satin finish lipsticks. Well, this one fits right in with the rest of the lipsticks. This is a long-wearing, highly saturated lipstick with a satin finish. I accumulated a few shades of the Confession Ultra Slim lipsticks, but my favorite is I've Never_ which is a nude rose. I really like this shade of nude it's perfect for medium to tan skin tone, and it won't give you that washed out look.
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Shine $37- this is probably my most used Chanel lipstick. I always keep this in my makeup bag for a quick touch up. Etourdie is a shimmering rosy pink shade with a sheer coverage that provides long-lasting hydration with a water-light texture. It glides on the lips easily, and it has a very pretty glossy finish.
  • Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lipgloss* $20- this was launched recently, and I've reviewed all the shades here. Urban Decay did a great job with the shade range my favorites are Backtalk and Snitch. It's formulated with vitamin E and peppermint oil, a hydrating formula that leaves lips feeling nourished with an immediate plumping effect and it has a yummy vanilla-mint flavor.
  • Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil* $26- I wouldn't put this in the lipstick category since it's more of a clear oil/gloss that keeps your lips hydrated throughout the day. I like to use this lip oil as a lipstick topper especially with a matte lipstick cause it provides a glossy, plumping effect to the lips.

Kate Bosworth Met Gala Look Created By Beau Nelson Featuring Chantecaille

For the 2018 Met Gala “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson created a glowing and feminine celestial look on Kate Bosworth using Chantecaille.

Beau was inspired by Byzantine paintings from the Eastern Roman Empire. He wanted Kate’s beauty to emulate an ethereal, monochromatic look from that era.

"I would describe this look as monochromatic. The color palette consisted of nude rose, rosy taupes, and soft beige pinks.” – Beau Nelson

Skin

1. To prep the skin, Beau applied the newly released Gold Recovery Mask ($270) on Kate’s face and neck to revitalize and refresh Kate’s skin, and applied the Gold Energizing Eye Recovery Masks ($195) to brighten and rejuvenate her under eyes.

2. To moisturize the skin for long-lasting hydration and a natural radiance, Beau mixed together Rose de Mai Face Oil ($185) with soothing Magnolia, Jasmine, and Lily Healing Emulsion ($120).

FACE

1. For a creamy natural base, perfectly matched to Kate’s skin tone, Beau combined Future Skin Shades ($78) Ivory, a pink tone with milky Alabaster.

2. To set the base and prepare the skin for high-definition cameras, Beau brushed on HD Perfecting Powder ($75), starting at the center of Kate’s face.

3. Next, Beau primed Kate’s cheeks with universally-flattering pink Cheek GelĂ©e in Happy ($44), and then brushed Philanthropy Cheek Shade in Laughter ($40), a warm peachy pink blush. This cheek shade is embossed with coral and benefits the Marine Conservatory Biology Institute.

4. Beau highlighted the high points of Kate’s face with the L'Arbre IlluminĂ© Palette ($75).

EYES

1. For the eyes, Beau dusted Lasting Eye Shade in Coriander ($26) onto Kate’s Lid.

2. Next, in the crease, Beau applied Mermaid Eye Matte in Elephant ($34), and then Mermaid Eye Matte in Lion ($34) on the inner corner of Kate’s eyes.

3. For perfectly full, face-framing brows, Beau enhanced and polished Kate’s eyebrows with Waterproof Brow Definer in Ash Blonde ($36).

4. To finish the eyes, Beau brushed on Faux Cils Longest Lash Mascara ($72) to thicken and lengthen Kate’s lashes.

LIPS

1. Beau lined Kate’s lips with Lip Definer in Natural ($26), a beigey-pink for long-lasting wear.

2. For a perfect nude-pink lip, he combined Matte Chic ($39) in Marisa, a petal pink, with Matte Chic ($39) in Suzy, a glamorous blush nude.

3. To finish her glowing look, Beau focused golden highlighter from limited edition Les Paillettes ($79) on Kate’s cupid bow.

Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition

Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition has officially launched, and it includes their best sellers Le Rouge Lipstick in N315 Framboise ($40 for 0.12oz) and Prisme Libre Loose Powder in N01 Mousseline Pastel ($60 for 0.42 0z). Both products are encased in a Limited Edition genuine leather couture case that's dressed in a floral pattern.

For this Spring, the theme for Givenchy seems to be lush moody florals I say moody cause the black background against the floral patterns gives off a dark vibe. I love the packaging and I wanted to learn more about the collection, but there was not enough information available. So, I did a little research, and I came across Givenchy 2013 Ready-to-Wear collection, which had similar floral prints. The floral patterns are almost identical but the Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition has more vibrant colors, and the flowers are slightly different. I'm not sure if the 2013 collection were the main inspiration for this recent Couture collection, but there is some resemblance. I have collected a few images from Vogue so you can have a look.

Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition Prisme Libre Loose Powder
Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition

Now that we have learned a little about the Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition collection let's talk about the products. Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Powder in N01 Mousseline Pastel is an iconic loose powder that helps achieve a mattified yet radiant complexion. This is a fusion of four complimentary, complexion refining shades that together, create a made-to-measure, color correcting finish. There are five shades available, but only N01 comes in the limited edition packaging. Prisme Libre Loose Powder is housed in a sturdy, thick plastic jar, twist to unlock the top and inside you'll find a soft powder puff. The signature logo screen releases the perfect amount of each shade, allowing you to easily blend colors together for a sheer natural result. N01 Mousseline Pastel powder has a mix of pastel green, blue, lilac, and a creamy white shade. This powder is finely milled, it has a silky smooth texture, it's exceptionally lightweight, and it sets your foundation and concealer without any caking or creasing. I have a travel size of this powder (review here) which I really like, but during summer when I get a tan this shade is a bit light for me. Although it's almost transparent, during summer, when I'm much darker you can tell I used a powder that's too light for my complexion which is not so flattering. I do love the consistency of this powder it really helps give you a smooth base, it doesn't cling to any dry patches and it did a pretty good job at keeping the oil at bay. For someone with my skin tone, I would prefer the shade 2 or 3 but if you have pale to medium light skin tone, N01 should be a great match for you. This Powder is lightly scented I kind of like the fresh scent, it's not too overpowering, and it dissipates quickly.

Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition Le Rouge Lipstick N315 Framboise
Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition

Givenchy 2018 Rouge Couture Edition Lipstick in N315 Framboise is a bright raspberry semi-matte shade. Le Rouge lipsticks are lightweight, highly saturated with intense yet wearable pigments, and the formula has a soft buttery texture that glides on the lips like a dream. I'm a huge fan of Givenchy lipsticks the luxurious leather packaging is to die for. The comfortable, long wearing, velvety, and the ultra-smooth formula doesn't dry out my lips. Despite the creamy texture, it didn't smudge or bleed I didn't use a lipliner and it was very easy to outline my lips. N315 Framboise is not a new shade however it is new to me. I'm not a big fan of bright berry shade lipsticks and even though this shade is very Spring appropriate, this isn't something I would normally reach for. I would say this lipstick is more of a collector item, for me at least, but If you're someone who loves rocking bold, bright pink lipsticks then you'll definitely love this. Framboise started fading after 4-5 hours, and it left a light pink stain behind. This lipstick is also lightly scented but once applied it's almost undetectable.

Final Verdict:

This collection was a hit and miss for me the beautiful packaging is definitely a hit, but I wish the powder and lipstick had more shades to choose from so that way everyone would feel included. If you read my previous review of the Prisme Libre Loose Powder then you know how much I like that product it doesn't accentuate dry spots or set in fine lines and a little goes long way so one jar will last you a long time. The packaging also makes this powder very travel-friendly. Since summer is coming up and I will get much darker so I was thinking of purchasing the shade 2 and giving it a try. As for the lipstick, it's simply beautiful, but I'm more of nude or coral lipstick type-of-gal so its a nay for me.

What are your thoughts on the collection? Is it a yay or a nay? Feel free to leave a comment below I would love to hear your thoughts.
