Byredo Discovery Set
Byredo:
BYREDO was founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham. Ben began to be intrigued by scent and memory after traveling to his mother's hometown in India, where he was stirred by the aromas of spices and incense. Inspired by this trip, BYREDO's scented candles and perfumes have been developed with an understated approach, using simple composition of the highest quality raw materials.
Byredo launched two new sets of Discovery Service, I picked the one that features their (6x2 ml Eau de Parfum) vials of iconic scents: Bal D'Afrique, Blanche, Gypsy Water, La Tulipe, Mojave Ghost, and Rose of No Man's Land.
I love collecting little vials of perfume samples it's the perfect way to test out the fragrances before committing to a full-size bottle. So even though I'm familiar with Byredo fragrances I haven't had the chance to explore all the scents. I started off with their hand creams and slowly I've accumulated quite a few. This set includes a few of my favorites from the brand- Blanche, La Tulipe, and Mojave Ghost and I also owned a full-sized bottle of the Blanche.
This discovery set is redeemable against any Byredo fragrance purchase within 6 weeks. Once your discovery set purchase is complete, you will receive a unique voucher code of $20 via email. This offer is exclusive to Byredo.com.

This set comes in a beautiful sturdy white cardboard box and the samples are nicely wrapped and sealed. Each vial (2ml) has a considerable amount so you can get at least 3-4 uses out of it depending on how many spritzes you use.
Byredo Discovery Set
Rose of No Man's Land- "is a tribute to the nurses (often referred to by soldiers as "Rose of No-Man's Land) who saved thousands of lives on the front lines of WWI, their story is one of selflessness and compassion."
I'm not a big fan of heavy floral scents especially roses but this is not all rose it has a hint of sweet, fruity scent as well. I sprayed once on the back of my wrist and I realized its a bit overpowering for me this is my least favorite one out all six fragrances.
- Top Notes: Pink Pepper, Turkish Rose Petals. Middle Notes: Raspberry Blossom, Turkish Rose Absolute. Base Notes: Papyrus, White Amber.
La Tulipe- This is another floral scent but it's not as intense as Rose of No Man's Land. It's very easy to wear it has a gentle, clean and fresh feel to it. I also have the La Tulipe hand cream which I really like.
I love Byredo's description of the scent- "Walk along the stone path, through the gate, under the trellis. Sit on the marble bench. Feel the cool grass under your feet, the warm rays on your back. Do this every morning till sudden variegated glints of red or purple or pink or orange catch your eye. They'll be the first bloom of the season. I'll know Spring has come."
- Top Notes: Cyclamen, Freesia, Rhubarb. Middle Note: Tulip. Base Notes: Blonde Woods, Vetiver.
Mojave Ghost- "is inspired by one of the most arid regions of the world where life still persists. The scent is an homage to the bewitching, rare and beautiful ghost flower which develops in the extreme climate without pollination or plentiful water."
I love Mojave Ghost I purchased the hand cream which is currently in my makeup bag. This is such a beautiful scent it's light, airy and it lasts all day long!
- Top Note: Ambrette. Middle Notes: Magnolia, Sandalwood, Violet. Base Notes: Cedarwood, Chantilly Musk, Crisp Amber.
Blanche- "The idea for Blanche is, as the name suggests, built around my perception of the colour white. For the first time, I actually made a fragrance for and with a specific person in mind. I wanted to capture her innocent and untainted side, with a fragrance almost transparent in nature. Blanche also represents an appreciation for classic beauty. The fragrance is pure and simple in structure but extreme in character."- Ben Gorham
This was my first purchase from the brand, Blanche is the reason I fell in love with Byredo. As I mentioned, I'm not a big fan of floral scents but this is floral but with a twist. It reminds me of my childhood like when I used to play in my grandmas garden full of beautiful white roses. I can't get enough of Blanche I have the hand cream and I had finished up an entire bottle of this perfume. I will most likely use the $20 voucher to replenish a full-size bottle of Blanche.
- Top Notes: Aldehyde, Pink Pepper, White Rose. Middle Notes: Neroli, Peony, Violet. Base Notes: Blonde Woods, Musk, Sandalwood.
Bal d'Afrique- "A warm and romantic vetiver inspired by Paris in the late 20's and its infatuation with African culture, art, music, and dance. A mix of Parisian avant-gardism and African culture shaped a unique and vibrant expression. The intense life, the excess, and euphoria is illustrated by Bal d'Afrique's neroli, African marigold, and Moroccan cedarwood."
I've been meaning to check out Bal d'Afrique and I'm so glad it was included in this discovery set. I don't know how Byredo does it but it's another scent I quickly fell in love with. This is such a unique scent, it's sophisticated, intoxicating and you only need one spritz which will last you all day.
- Top Notes: African Marigold, Bergamot, Bucchu, Lemon, Neroli. Middle Note: Cyclamen, Jasmine Petals, Violet. Base Note: Black Amber, Moroccan Cedarwood, Musk, Vetiver.
Gypsy Water- "Gypsy Water is a glamorization of the Romany lifestyle, based on a fascination with the myth. The scent of fresh soil, deep forests and campfires evoke the dream of a free, colorful lifestyle close to nature."
This has a mix of sweet, vanilla scent it's a bit heavy for me but I do like the hand cream.
- Top Notes: Bergamot, Juniper Berries, Lemon, Pepper. Middle Notes: Incense, Orris, Pine Needle. Base Notes: Amber, Sandalwood, Vanilla.
Final Verdict:
I think fragrances are a very personal thing you have to find one that speaks to you. Before you find "the one" there is a lot of trial and error, I've had my fair share of those. As I grew older, I realized what works for me and what doesn't. That's why I love Byredo, they just have a way with fragrances and this set was the perfect way to sample more of their beautiful, intoxicating, and unique scents. I also love that you can use the $20 towards any Byredo fragrance. This is a luxury brand so it's definitely pricey but I think this set can help you determine which one of their iconic perfume can be your signature scent.
