Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Dew you & Fantasy

Marc Jacobs Beauty new Coconut Fantasy Collection has launched, and it includes:
Since I love the original Dew Drops, I decided to purchase the new Coconut Gel Highlighter in Fantasy, ($44 for 0.8oz) and today I'm going to review both of the gel highlighters.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops is a lightweight, coconut-infused gel highlighter that can be applied to the skin directly or added to foundation or primer for a universally flattering glow. A little goes a long way: This gel highlighter builds for the ultimate sheen, and the sensual, golden-peach hue flatters all skin tones with warm radiance. It’s formulated with five forms of coconut and provitamin B5 to help hydrate and nourish skin.
  1. Coconut alkanes: Help with longer wear
  2. Coconut milk: Deeply hydrates
  3. Coconut water: Provides refreshing electrolytes
  4. Coconut polysaccharides: Help condition
  5. Coconut fragrance: Lightly scented
Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Dew you & Fantasy

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighters are housed in a thick, frosted glass bottle with a white cap and a pump dispenser. I like the packaging, the pump is very easy to control you can dispense just the right amount of product. However, I did notice the products seem to dry up at the nozzle so I like to wipe that way before pumping out more product.

The highlighter has a gel-like consistency, it's very creamy, and it glides on the skin easily, but it sets very quickly, so you have to work a little faster. These are highly pigmented, and it has the most beautiful micro shimmers so you can mix the highlighters with your foundation for a luminous glow. My skin is pretty normal these days with some dry patches, and even though the highlighters can cling to the dry spots it doesn't emphasize on fine lines or large pores. If you have oily skin you can use this only on the cheekbones or any other areas you'd like to focus on instead of mixing it with your foundation. If you have dry skin prep with a hydrating primer, and a foundation that has a dewy finish since, the gel highlighters are a bit drying. Dew Drops highlighters have a blendable formula, I like to use my fingers to apply the product, but you can also use a beauty blender or brush to buff out the product. Dew Drops is a great base for powder highlighters, but I don't like to layer highlighters cause I don't find it flattering on my textured skin. If you're a fan of intense highlighter you can definitely pair it a powder highlighter. Once this highlighter sets it will stay put all day long, and it's also transfer proof.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Dew you

Marc Jacobs Dew You Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter $44- this is described as golden peach, but on my complexion, it pulls more champagne gold than peachy gold. I love this shade, and I think this will look great on fair to tan skin tone. I prefer using this highlighter with my foundation I use a small pump and mix the products really well. It gives me the ultimate sun-kissed glow! I also like to use this on the inner corner of my eyes, and browbone.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Fantasy

Marc Jacobs Fantasy Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter $44- it's described as warm rose tone, and on my complexion, it shows up coppery pink with a golden sheen. I was very excited to see Marc Jacobs launching a darker shade of gel highlighter. I get very tan during summer so this will be perfect during the warmer months. Fantasy is highly pigmented, and it has an intense metallic finish so I use a very small amount cause a little goes a long way with this highlighter. This shade might not be the best option for very fair skin tone since it does run a bit coppery. If you have light to medium complexion you can use this as a bronzer to warm up the skin and a radiant glow. However, it's the perfect highlighter for a brown girl like me!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Dew you & Fantasy

Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew you Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter & Algenist Luminizing Drops

My liquid highlighter collection is pretty small, but I did find a close dupe in my stash. Algenist Luminizing Drops in Champagne is very similar in shade wise, however, it's much lighter in texture, and it's slightly warmer than Dew You. MJ Dew You seems to have a hint of cool undertone when compared next to the Algenist Champagne Luminizing Drops. I like them both, and it's nice to have options so I wanted to compare this two side by side so you can have an idea.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Fantasy & Tom Ford Illuminator Fire Lust

I also wanted to compare Fantasy to one of my favorite Tom Ford Illuminator in Fire Lust. Fantasy is definitely warmer, and it has a metallic finish with a golden sheen. Fire Lust pulls more peachy with ultra-fine golden shimmer.

Final Verdict:

The new limited edition Fantasy dew drops is a total hit! It's just as good as the original gel highlighter. Both shades are very flattering on my complexion, and it truly gives me a beautiful lustrous glow.

Marc Jacobs Dew Drops has that wet skin-like finish which is just what I prefer when it comes to highlighters. The silky smooth texture, rich pigmentation, and the longevity of these products definitely make them a winner.

In honor of the Nordstrom Beauty event, I wanted to share my picks for the Spring Beauty Edit 2018. I will be honest with you I can't keep up with all the latest trends, but for spring and summer, I think a fresh, dewy base and a bright glossy lips are a match made in heaven. I must warn you I got way too excited and I ended up picking out a lot of products. I think it's good to have options, and since I'm focusing on skin and lips I'm including foundations, blush, bronzers, and a lot of pretty lipsticks.
So, let's begin!

Spring Beauty Edit 2018
Spring Beauty Edit

First up are the base products I always start with prepping my skin with a hydrating serum and a moisturizer with an SPF 30 followed by a primer. The one I'm loving right now is the Makeup forever HD Serum Booster, its lightweight, hydrating, and it smooths out the appearance of fine lines.
Here are my top three foundation picks:
  • Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick $46 - lately, this has been my go-to foundation. It's very creamy, long-wearing, blendable and it has a full coverage finish. I love that I can use this as a concealer, I've also worn this foundation all throughout the year, and I didn't experience any caking or creasing. It covers redness, blemishes like a dream, and a little goes a long way with this foundation. This is one of my tried and tested foundation and I always get compliments when I wear this foundation.
  • Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation $64 this is a new discovery, but it quickly became one of my favorite due to the lightweight, buildable coverage finish. Luminous Silk foundation has an oil-free formula with a silky texture, and a satin finish. It doesn't cling to any dry patches or emphasize the texture on my skin. You can sheer out the coverage by adding a drop of facial oil or moisturizer of your choice, and to build up the coverage use a beauty blender for an opaque finish. The shade range is a bit of an issue, there are not enough shades with a yellow undertone. I picked up the shade #8 which is the closest match for me.
  • Mac Cosmetics Face and Body Foundation $30- this foundation doesn't need a formal introduction its loved by many, and it is one of my favorite foundation of all time. This is a lightweight, long-wearing, light to medium coverage foundation with a natural skin-like finish. I have developed broken capillaries over the past few years (due to the lack of sun protection I bet that will teach me) this foundation does a decent job at covering up all my imperfections. If you have severe acne spots or hyperpigmentation you'll definitely need to spot conceal. Face and Body has a runny texture, so I like to use my fingers to apply this foundation. This foundation doesn't settle into any fine lines, clog my pores or cling to dry patches, it provides a smooth, even finish. I've been using this foundation since I was 18, and I will continue to use it as long as it works for me. This is also a staple in many makeup artists kits cause of the natural finish and it photographs really well.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder review
Spring Beauty Edit

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder $38 has been a staple in my makeup routine for many years. I like to set my concealer with this powder, and I also like to lightly dust this on my t-zone. In order to obtain a luminous glow, I have to be very light hand with the application so, I use as little powder as possible. If you have very oily t-zone, I would recommend the Lancome Dual Finish Multi-Tasking Powder $40 it has a wide shade range to choose from, and it's a medium to full coverage finish powder that does a great job at keeping the oil at bay.

Spring Beauty Edit

As I have mentioned earlier, I clearly got a bit carried away. Honestly, I can't contain myself when it comes to highlighters and lipsticks. I mean you should take a peek in makeup bag who needs to carry 7+ lipsticks? I do!

I picked out a few of my favorites cheek products in both powder and cream formula. I recently started using cream products I don't know why I waited so long to try them. It really goes hand in hand with the radiant glowy look.

First up are the powder bronzer, highlighters, and blush.

  • Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Bronzer* $50- this bronzer gives me the ultimate sun-kissed glow! It has a soft texture that blends effortlessly, and it doesn't leave my skin looking orange.
  • Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo $82- a highlighting duo that can be applied individually or layered together for a multidimensional glow. I love Tom Ford highlighters cause they're very subtle and wearable. I use this duo mostly for my daytime looks cause it gives a natural glow without the chunky glitters.
  • Nars Dual-Intensity Blush $ 45- Nars Dual-Intensity blush palette (review here) is one of my most used blush palettes. If you didn't get the chance to purchase the palette fear not cause it also comes in duos, and there are a few shades to choose from. These blushes can be used wet or dry depending on the intensity you're going for. I personally prefer using them dry since it's highly pigmented I don't feel the need to use them wet. Dual-Intensity blushes are very long wearing, and it has a satin finish.
  • Laura Mercier Face Illuminator $44- Indiscretion, is a perfect everyday highlighter it has buttery a texture, and it's a beautiful rose gold shade. This highlighter can be used wet or dry and I prefer it dry to avoid the intense metallic highlighter look. However, I do like to use this wet when I use it as a brow bone highlighter.  This is quite subtle but it adds just the right amount of glow.
  • Mac Extra Dimension Skinfinish $34 Whisper of Gilt is probably one of Mac's bestselling highlighter, and it has now joined the permanent line. This highlighter is quite the opposite of subtle it's an intense, highly pigmented, champagne gold highlighter. I like to use this mostly during night time looks it has a cool liquid-powder texture, and I think this is a great option for anyone who loves an opaque finish highlighter.
  • Cle De Peau Beaute Luminizing Face Enhancer $95 a beautiful highlighter that's subtle with a hint of shimmer. Don't be afraid of the shimmer cause its an overspray. Once you get rid of that layer of shimmer you're left with a luxuriously soft, silky, and lustrous finish highlighter.

  • Wander Beauty On-the-Glow Bronzer & Illuminator* $45- a cream-to-powder formula that delivers a natural, pure matte, sun-kissed hue to the cheeks and face, while the illuminator imparts a subtle healthy glow and adds dimension to the face and body. Infused with a proprietary blend of HD pigments, vitamins, and hydrating ingredients, the buildable formula glides beautifully onto the skin, flattering all complexions. This is one of the creamiest bronzers I've used thus far. I also love that it comes with a highlighter so it's very travel-friendly. I have a detailed review with swatches here
  • By Terry Glow-Expert* $48- a two-in-one product which you can use to highlight and contour and it also has a brush on the other end. It has a creamy formula with a pearl finish, and it glides on the skin like butter. I have the shade Amber Light, I like to mix both shades to warm up my skin. The formula is incredible and I love how this stick duo looks on the skin it provides the prettiest glossy finish.
  • YSL Touche Eclat Glow Shot Liquid Highlighter* $42 a liquid highlighter that brightens your complexion that gives your skin a radiant, dewy glow. I have the shade 2 Sunrise it's a beautiful pink opalescent shadeThis is a bit sheer so you can mix this with your foundation for a luminescent glow.
  • Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick $42 a highly pigmented, long-wearing, an innovative formula that adjusts to your body temperature to blend effortlessly into the skin. It’s also formulated with hollow microspheres for a weightless feel on the skin. It blends into the skin without any streaks with a high shine and metallic finish.
  • Wander Beauty On-the-Glow Blush & Illuminator* $42- this is just as good as the bronzer duo the formula is very creamy, easy to blend, and the pigmentation is incredible. I also have a detailed review and swatches of this duo here

I love peachy, coral lipsticks as you can tell I feel like its the perfect shade for spring and summer. I don't wear a lot of bold, colorful lipsticks, but when I do it's usually a bright orange or a coral shade.

  • Tom Ford Sheer Lip Color $54- a lustrous sheen of color that complements sun-kissed, summer skin.  I have four Lip Color Sheers, and I really like the texture of these lipsticks it has a comfortable wear that provides a layer of hydration to the lips.
  • Chantecaille Lip Chic* $38- Hyacinth is a pinkish coral shade with a satin finish. I absolutely love the lip chic formula it has a sheer coverage with a very pretty glossy finish. I recently reviewed the Chantecaille spring collection here which includes this lipstick.
  • Nars Velvet Lip Glide $26- Bound is a lovely rosy pink shade. These lip glides are highly pigmented, it goes on like a gloss, but sets like a lipstick. I also have a full review of the Nars Velvet Lip Glides here
  • Giorgio Armani Lip Magnet Liquid Lipsticks* $38- I have two shades 400 and 505 both are very pretty and fun bright colors. The creamy consistency glides on the lips smoothly, it has a non-drying formula, and it lasts for 3-4 hours before it starts to fade. I love the shade 400 it is a bright warm red, and I think it will suit most skin tones.
  • YSL Volupté Liquid Balm $32- I'm a huge fan of YSL lip products so I had to try their newest launch, Volupte liquid Balm. A medium-coverage, high-shine liquid lip color that deeply moisturizes and protects lips like a balm. I picked up the shade in N12 Chase Me Nude it's a peachy nude. The formula is superb, and although, it's a lip balm it's still nicely saturated.
  • Lancome L'Absolu Rouge Hydrating Shaping Lip Color $32- 172 Impatiente, a stunning orange-red. The formula is infused with moisture-boosting Pro-Bylane, it gives your lips a high color payoff without drying out your lips. I love using this lipstick during spring/summer it really brightens up my complexion, and the formula is quite hydrating which is always a plus.
  • Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High-Intensity Refillable Lipstick $34- by now you can see a pattern of glossy, satin finish lipsticks. Well, this one fits right in with the rest of the lipsticks. This is a long-wearing, highly saturated lipstick with a satin finish. I accumulated a few shades of the Confession Ultra Slim lipsticks, but my favorite is I've Never_ which is a nude rose. I really like this shade of nude it's perfect for medium to tan skin tone, and it won't give you that washed out look.
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Shine $37- this is probably my most used Chanel lipstick. I always keep this in my makeup bag for a quick touch up. Etourdie is a shimmering rosy pink shade with a sheer coverage that provides long-lasting hydration with a water-light texture. It glides on the lips easily, and it has a very pretty glossy finish.
  • Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lipgloss* $20- this was launched recently, and I've reviewed all the shades here. Urban Decay did a great job with the shade range my favorites are Backtalk and Snitch. It's formulated with vitamin E and peppermint oil, a hydrating formula that leaves lips feeling nourished with an immediate plumping effect and it has a yummy vanilla-mint flavor.
  • Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil* $26- I wouldn't put this in the lipstick category since it's more of a clear oil/gloss that keeps your lips hydrated throughout the day. I like to use this lip oil as a lipstick topper especially with a matte lipstick cause it provides a glossy, plumping effect to the lips.

TOM FORD GLOW STICK

Happy Monday! Newyork was warm and sunny this weekend and it was also Bengali New Year day what a perfect day to celebrate and start the year off right. Traditionally we wear red and white saree but I decided to mix it up a bit. I don't wear a lot of colors on a daily basis my outfit mostly consists of white or black color tops with jeans. When it comes to shoes and handbags, that's where I like to have some fun and twist. I wore one of my favorite pair of emerald green mules I purchased this pair last year from HM. The quality is superb it's has a satin material and it is very comfortable. Keeping the emerald green theme going I wore these vintage earrings that I purchased a few years ago, I absolutely love these earrings. I'm also loving the combination of the new Givenchy Blossom Crush and Byredo Bal d'Afrique perfumes both floral scents but it's not too heavy, it's very light and airy. Now let's discuss the bag I'm sure you've all seen the newest trend- PVC bags. Well, I can't get enough of the new trendy bag, I picked up an affordable version from Nordstrom. I'm eyeing a beautiful Chanel PVC bag but not sure if its worth the splurge. For now, I'm going to enjoy every bit of this BP. PVC Bag.

Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag Review

Today I will be sharing what's in my Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag and how I pack the essentials. I remember the very first bag that my dad bought me when I was 12 years old, it was a mini backpack, and even back then I knew I love mini bags. Many years later, not much has changed whenever I spot a new bag I always go for the size-mini and the crossbody option is an added bonus. I do have a few large totes, which I mostly reach for when I travel but on a daily basis, I prefer the minis. I love having my hands free specially after I had my daughter. I purchased the Gucci Dionysus bag about 1.5 years ago and I haven't stopped using it ever since!

Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag is a structured bag, it has a Beige/ebony GG supreme canvas with taupe suede trim and a textured tiger head spur closure. There is a pocket under the flap it's not that spacious but I can keep some cards or cash. The antique silver-toned chain strap can be worn in multiple ways, it can be worn on the shoulder with 15.5'' drop or it can be worn as a top handle with 9'' drop. It's 7.5'' in width x 6'' in height and 2'' depth. This bag has hand stitched details and hand-painted edges.

Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag Review

At first, I wasn't sure about the monogram canvas but once I've seen the bag in person I quickly fell in love with it. The canvas is only on the exterior and the interior is fully lined with the suede fabric which you can see peeking through the flap and on each side of the bag. I love the suede trimming and the neutral earthy tones make this bag very easy to style. The snap closure is another thing I like about this bag it's nicely secured and it's very easy to open and close. The chain straps can be a little heavy but since the bag is very small and you can only pack a few things it never gets uncomfortable. The grainy texture of the canvas makes this bag very durable. It's scratch resistant and you don't have to worry about color transfer, I've worn this bag during rainy, snowy days and it still looks brand new!

I'm 5' 3 and when I use it as a crossbody it stops right below my stomach which is the perfect length for me. Although it's a trendy bag and it might go out of style in the future but I can still see myself continue to use and love this bag. Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme comes in a few other colors and sizes.

Keep scrolling for close up shots of the bag, how I styled the bag and what fits inside the bag.

Gucci Dionysus GG Supreme Mini Bag Review

As you can see, it's very compact so I just have to be strategic about how I pack the bag so that way I can close it without any issue. The only thing is when the bag is open and if you place it down the weight from the snap closure can lean forward and tip the bag over.

I never carried a full sized wallet I just never felt the need to lug around a huge wallet. I prefer card cases I'm currently using the Chanel card case which is one of my favorite card cases. This card case has been in my collection for years now it's still in the pristine condition, it has 4 pockets if you count the front slot. I like to pack the makeup items in a Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette. My iPhone 7 fits easily in the bag but not when I have the card case and the mini pochette in the bag. I usually keep my phone in my hand or coat pocket so it's never been an issue.

I always carry Lancome Dual Finish Powder compact and blotting sheets so I can touch up throughout the day, which is a must for me since I have very oily t-zone. I'm currently carrying the Fenty Beauty Blotting Paper and it's the cutest little thing ever! I've been loving these two new lip balms I've already reviewed the Kjaer Weis Lip Balm (here). Few other lippies in my bag are NYX Cosmetics Natural lip liner and Tom Ford First Time Lipstick- it's a peachy pink shade with a satin finish. Also in the bag, I have mini YSL Lip Tint Oil no. 5 and Cle De Peau Beaute Radiant Liquid Rouge in the shade 11. I always like to have a hand cream available cause I constantly wash my hands, the one I'm using now is a mini L'occitane Cherry Blossom hand cream. I've recently discovered a new brand Phlur and I'm loving this scent called Hanami it has notes of white florals, fig, hazelnut, and sandalwood.

What's in my makeup bag

That's a wrap for my very first What's In My Bag, I always get questions on how I pack my mini bags so I hope you enjoyed a peek into my Dionysus Mini.

What's in your bag? & Which do you prefer- a mini or a large handbag?

Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Lips

Product Info:
Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Lips bring the play of light and dark, integral to Tom Ford's face philosophy, to color contouring. Two shades (one dark and one light) complement for shaping lips with high pigmentation in a velvet matte finish. Using the dual-ended applicator, featuring a sponge on one end and a lip brush on the other, both shades can be applied to create a subtle to dramatic ombré effect. The powder-gelèe formula features emollient oils and a blend of polymers that provide rich color release and adherence. Each color combination is designed to complement every skin tone.

Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Lips

Today I will be reviewing Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Lips in Automatic, Impulse and Tantalize. If you haven't seen my previous sneak peek/first impression post with the complete swatches of Tom Ford Spring Collection 2017 check it out here. The packaging of these lip duos are the same size as their blush compact, and it comes with a dual ended brush. There is a total of six shades I purchased three I decided to play it safe and grabbed two nudes and a pop of color. These lip duos are very creamy in texture, and it's highly pigmented. Although these lipsticks have a matte finish, they're not drying on the lips, and it doesn't settle into the lines. I love how lightweight these lipsticks are, and it's so velvety and silky in consistency. I also love how the shades were put together you can create an ombre lips by applying the darker shade then dab the lighter shade in the middle you can actually play with these lip duos and get creative with it.

tom ford shade and illuminate lips review and swatches
Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate Lips

I've noticed the nude duos are more matte than the bright ones so if you have very dry chapped lips I suggest priming your lips well before applying the lipsticks. I must admit I was skeptical at first cause I don't really like to use a lip palette, but to my surprise, I've been using these non-stop ever since I purchased them. I prefer using the lip brush than the sponge, and I like to use a lip liner with these lip duos I find layering it helps these lipsticks last longer. These had worn for 3-4 hours before it started fading and the bright shade did leave a light stain behind.

Overall
I'm a big fan of Tom Ford lipsticks, and I really like these lip duos the colors are coordinated perfectly, and my favorite ones are Impulse and Tantalize. All though I'm used to the traditional lipstick bullet I don't mind carrying and using these lip palettes, and it's very easy to apply with the mini brush.

Tom Ford launched a new collection featuring six Shade & Illuminate Lips ($60 for .12 oz.) and two cheeks ($80 for .49 oz.). When I first saw the pictures of the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Lips I thought they were eyeshadow duos but once I discovered they're lipstick duos I actually liked the looks of these, and I was very intrigued. I found the Shade & Illuminate Cheeks similar (color wise) to an earlier TF collection which contained two powder blush and highlighter duos Softcore and Stroked. I purchased three out of the six lips duos, and I decided to pass on the cheek duos. Keep reading to find out which shades I've bought and swatches of all six lips and two cheeks Shade and Illuminate duos! Review here

I love how there's an option for everyone here in this collection it will cater to nude lipstick lovers as well as bold and bright lipstick lovers. These lip palettes come with a dual mini brush a sponge applicator and a well-functioning lip brush. I noticed a few different finishes here it's a mix of velvety matte, satin and creamy finish. The texture of these lipsticks are amazing it felt very silky and soft also each, and every one of them are highly pigmented. I love how you can create an ombre effect with these duos if you saw the campaign shot of the model wearing what I believe is Saboteur it looked absolutely stunning!

All though I like Tom Ford cream products I had to pass on these two reason being they're not as pigmented as I expected them to be. I have a hard time working with cream blushes it seems to fade away rather quickly on my oily combination skin. The texture felt very light and creamy, and I can see this giving you a youthful glow, but I'm not sure about the longevity about this one.

For me, I couldn't pass on the lip palettes, and I'm glad I didn't they're really worth looking into. The Cheek duos not so much. As I mentioned before I purchased three shades Automatic, Impulse and Tantalize which I will do a detailed review on shortly Review here. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoyed this quick sneak peek. What are your thoughts on the new TF Beauty Spring 2017 collection? Have you checked them out yet?
